About MIDIFabric

What is MIDIFabric?
A standalone app for MIDI routing, effects, monitoring and debugging on Mac. You connect your MIDI gear and music apps on one canvas, put effects between them, and see what is actually sent. See the product page.
Do I need a DAW?
No. MIDIFabric works on its own with the MIDI ports macOS recognizes. You can also use it together with a DAW or other music apps through virtual MIDI ports, as long as those apps can select MIDI inputs and outputs.
Can it show MIDI 2.0 messages?
Yes. The monitor decodes messages from MIDI 2.0 devices, for example Note On and Note Off with 16-bit velocity. The full scope of MIDI 2.0 support will be described at release.

Availability and purchase

When will it be available, and how much will it cost?
MIDIFabric is in development. The release date and price have not been announced yet.
Is there a free version?
At release, we plan to offer a 14-day demo of all features. Continued use after the demo requires an in-app purchase of all features. There is no permanent free tier.

Platforms

Which Macs and macOS versions are supported?
Supported macOS versions will be announced at release.
Is there a version for iPad, Windows or Android?
The first release is planned for Mac. An iPad version is planned for a later release; its timing is undecided. Windows and Android tablet versions are in development. Features on other platforms may differ from the Mac version.

AI and privacy

What do I need for the AI features?
An AI app that you install and sign in to yourself: OpenAI Codex or Claude Code. MIDIFabric connects to it on your Mac. Use of those services is under your own account and their terms. MIDIFabric does not include an AI service.
Does MIDIFabric collect my data?
No. See the privacy policy, including what an AI app can read when you turn on the AI connection.
