This policy takes effect when MIDIFabric is released. Last updated: 2026-10-07.
This policy describes how the MIDIFabric app, provided by New Technology Design, LLC ("we"), handles your information. It covers the Mac version of MIDIFabric. This website has its own handling of cookies and analytics, described in the cookie notice.
Summary
- MIDIFabric does not collect your data. It does not send data to us or to analytics or advertising services, and it does not track you.
- Your settings, effects, device definitions and logs stay on your Mac.
- If you turn on the AI connection, an AI app that you use can read certain information from MIDIFabric, as described below.
Information stored on your Mac
MIDIFabric stores its settings, your routing, effects, device definitions, captured MIDI data and logs on your Mac. We cannot access them. They are removed when you delete them in the app or remove the app and its data.
MIDI devices and music apps
MIDIFabric reads and sends MIDI to the devices and apps you connect, through macOS. This happens on your Mac and over the connections you choose, such as USB, Bluetooth or network MIDI.
AI connection
The AI connection is off until you turn it on. When it is on, MIDIFabric accepts connections only from the same Mac (127.0.0.1) and only from apps that present the access token MIDIFabric shows you. MIDIFabric itself does not send anything to AI services or to us.
An AI app that you connect, such as OpenAI Codex or Claude Code, can read:
- MIDIFabric's built-in guides and effect templates
- The names, categories and full contents (Lua code and control panel) of your registered effects
- The status of effect candidates it has submitted
It cannot read your device list, monitor data, performances, logs or other files. The AI app sends what it reads, together with what you type into it, to its provider under your own account, and the provider's terms and privacy policy apply. Avoid putting personal information in effect names or code comments if you do not want it sent.
If a future version lets AI apps read more, such as monitor data or connected devices, we will update this policy and the in-app description before that version is released.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple provides us with sales reports that do not identify you.
Crash reports
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and diagnostics for MIDIFabric. You can change this at any time in System Settings.
When you contact us
When you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, such as screenshots or logs. Logs can include the names of your MIDI devices; Bluetooth and network devices are sometimes named after a person. We use this only to answer you and to fix problems, keep it only as long as needed, and delete it on request.
Children
MIDIFabric does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
We will post changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
